Nowadays, we can already consider using computer as important as learning how to read and write. Our country is also showing great effort in uplifting technology and ensuring that everyone will have an enough knowledge about it. As a contribution to that goal, I made my ten rules regarding on making an effective website to educate my readers and provide them information that they can use not only to get good grades but also to shape the world for the better in the future. Here are my simple steps in making your website a good one.

1. Give a CONSISTENT look.
Website designs should follow your corporate brand. It is important to use colors which are relatedto your topic. Remember, one purpose why you are beautifying your website is to give the viewers better ideas of what you’re talking about.
2. Make USE of images.
David Gates-”A picture paints a thousand words.” As what this saying states, good use of graphics is necessary for a website to be effective. Aside from text, images also help in explaining your topic. They provide an opportunity for other people to visualize better your ideas.
3. Provide a CONVENIENT tour.
Make it easy for your viewers to go around in your website. Be organized in putting your content so other people can easily find what are they looking for. Categorize its parts so will readers see the particular information they need.
4. Take a LOOK at the real world.
People usually go to websites to perform a specific task. Whether it’s a student doing a research or an employee who’s about to create a presentation, your website should be usable and be able to attend the needs of your viewers. Links are also important to give readers the access to other websites that might also be helpful to them.
5. Say it with APPEAL.
Your website is driven by your content. Make sure to put words, pictures and videos that explain your topic in the most informative and creative way possible. Show your vivid imagination through coming up with effective use of words and display of educational yet entertaining presentations. After all, learning can also be fun as any leisure activities could possibly be.
6. LEARN to prioritize.
Be careful at putting all the details you feel that are relevant to your topic. Take time to analyze things, know which parts of your website are more significant compared to others. All information may make sense but just like any game, there will always be a first place. So keep in mind to place the most important messages at the top.
7. Let your words be UNDERSTOOD.
Using such deep words that might be really pleasant to the ears sounds a great idea. But you should remember that your aim is to educate your readers. So as an advice, it is better to use simpler words which are known to many. There are times that what matters more is how we use language effectively to encourage other people to listen.
8. Fit in to DIFFERENT containers.
I can say that being open to different kind of people and being able to adapt to their lifestyles is necessary to survive. Just like your website, you should know your audience. That way you’ll know the best approach whenever you’re writing or designing. So be ready to list down all useful tips, feedback and information you can get.
9. PUT your website to the test.
After you have accomplished your tasks, make sure to check again your website. See if there are some mistakes regarding the spelling and grammar, examine again the graphics, videos and explanations to ensure that they are really worthy of the time given by your viewers and set your own standard in determining an effective website. It might sound weird, but it can also be helpful to create your own rubric and based on that, you can see both the good and bad points of your work.
10. Ethics REALLY count.
There may be many things to do in creating a website but remember that your main purpose is really to help your readers understand life better and have them see how valuable every experience is that they should be thankful of what they have and be positive in their point of view. As a part of this goal, make sure to give credit to the people who have contributed greatly to your work by citing your source and recognizing the original authors of your ideas.
At times, we tend to hate adults for imposing so many rules. We feel that we are being to dictated of how we should live our lives. But we should remember that rules are not there to make us prisoners, it is there to guide and keep us away from failing. Take your website as an example. If you will not observe the proper way of doing it, you will not succeed. Just be patient and keep in mind that doing things with appropriate processes is a key to success.
